Operations Manager

Location: ATM, Hornell, NY

The Operations Manager is responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, quality control, safety, supplier management, and plant level profit and loss by ensuring staff adheres to all policies and practices in a creative environment promoting positive learning and
continuous improvement.


  • Review processed Sales Orders and Engineering Change orders to verify procedural compliance
  • and accuracy
  • Review production schedules with Production Manager and Production Planner to ensure
  • customer schedules are met
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain to align plant priorities
  • Discuss customer NCRs with Quality Manager to verify appropriate corrective actions are being
  • implemented and effective
  • Resolve interdepartmental, customer, supplier, and employee conflicts
  • Work with HR to hire new employees, train, and handle disciplinary actions
  • Provide feedback to employees to ensure job expectations are understood and being achieved
  • Review financials in ERP system to identify and resolve any variances prior to month end closing
  • Work with Finance Controller to complete plant management presentation
  • Reforecast Finance Year revenue projections
  • Review customer scorecards and identify any variances. Communicate discrepancies with
  • customer and work with departments on corrective/preventative actions
  • Review plant production and floor capacity
  • Work with Production Manager and Production Scheduler to develop monthly and weekly
    shipping plans and confirm they align with monthly forecast
  • Analyze Sales, Operations, and Quality KPIs to identify any targets not being achieved
  • Provide 5-year revenue forecast for annual budget
  • Collaborate with General Manager and Controller to determine CAPEX requirements
  • Forecast staffing requirements based on revenue forecast
  • Review/Approve All Plant Expense Reports
  • Review/Approve All Purchase Orders over $20,000
  • Review/Approval All Wire transfers and ACH transfers


  • Minimum 10-15 years of previous employment with similar experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred in a related field
  • Excellent communication skills to convey essential information clearly and concisely, both written
  • and verbal.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Must be self-directed and maintain professional attitude at all times; particularly when dealing with
  • people in complex and stressful situations
  • High use of office technology including but not limited to MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook,
  • PowerPoint) and Microsoft Dynamics - Navision

Physical Requirements:

  • Repetitive motion and use of fingers and wrists – keyboarding and mouse usage for extended
  • periods of time
  • Moderate stationary work – requires remaining in a stationary position in front of a computer for
  • 50-70% of the time
  • Moderate movement – The person in this position is required to move about the Production floor
  • and secondary building 30-50% of the time
  • Must be able to move 20 lbs.
